Περίληψη στα Αγγλικά ((Abstract): This project is a collective work of some students, under the supervision of PhD candidate Thanasis Davalas, whose primary purpose is the in-depth understanding of the General Data Protection Regulation relating to the privacy of the subjects of processing. Through the analysis of the Hellenic Data Protection Authority decisions and with an indicative list of digital ways of communication, the aspects of this matter are thoroughly examined, focusing on the methods of political and commercial communication.

For the critical analysis, as well as the extraction of safe results for this endeavour, sources of presentation acts and decisive executable acts will be used by the independent data protection authority. This way we will be able to understand the special gravity that not only the European but also the Greek legislation ascribes to, regarding the processing of personal data as well as the sensitive data, always based on themes that we examine on this endeavour. Furthermore, the differences of political and commercial communication are analysed concerning the privacy of the recipient and the consequences which either of these cases will incur on the subject of processing, regarding the European and national constitutional requirements and legislation.

As mentioned earlier, the European Union, places important emphasis on personal rights, making reference to the integration of its directives, in to its members countries. Uniform Rules, imposing even sanctions on occasions of not being conformed with its member states.

This raises a succession of sittings of the Court with the a view to ensuring justice and the issue of judicial decisions of Independent data protection authority in order to protect the subjects of data processing from this procedure, as well as sensitive personal data. In this long and demanding piece of work a new perceptive will be provided, proving the gravity it brings the result of non-permeation for communication between politicians and civilians, with regards to “social stigmatisation” whose definition will be mentioned and analysed further down, it consists by a large margin the “can of worms”. When dealing with events of subjects’ data processing and finally the “bone of contention” when it comes to talking about non-desirable, political communication.

Abstract: Most early-stage startups have a hard time getting funding from investors. This also means that bright ideas coming from early-stage startups may fail to see the light of day and die even before they make a real impact on society. Careful consideration of literature has pointed to two factors for the low investment in early startups; the Matthew effect and the Pareto Distribution. This paper highlights how these two effects negatively impact the funding opportunities for early-stage startups by reviewing literature that highlights how investors choose to invest in different types of startups over others. The literature has highlighted that startups with longer business traction and more connections tend to be funded the most.
In contrast, those with little business traction and minimum connections get funded the least, hence indicating the Matthew Effect. Also, literature has highlighted that investors are clustering their investments to realize maximum gains from the niche areas they choose to invest in, indicating the Pareto Distribution, or 80/20 rule. Implications from this are important for early-stage startups that wish to find leverage to maximize their chances of getting funded while in their early stages.
